The Austin expansion of favorite San Antonio pastry shop Bakery Lorraine opened today in the Domain. The light and airy space at 1600 Rock Rose Avenue in the Rock Rose area of Domain Northside, serves up delectable pastries and desserts along with breakfast and lunch options.
Bakery Lorraine first opened in San Antonio in 2011, product of co-owners and chefs Anne Ng and Jeremy Mandrell, both of whom worked at Bouchon Bakery in San Francisco under Thomas Keller. The pastry case holds items like croissants, homemade pop-tarts, cookies, and kouign amann, plus there’s a cold case for macarons, cheesecake, and tarts.
The breakfast and lunch menu have typical bistro fare to go along with the refined French decor. There’s also a patio with rattan chairs and beautiful metal tables along with a made-for-Instagram mural on the side of the building.
Eater photographer Courtney Pierce captured every detail of the well-designed space, like the hanging pink pipe structure holding a shelf of plants, black-and-white framed illustrations, and a fun mural on the exterior of the bakery, as well as an array of sweets from macarons to cakes.
