Austin sandwich truck Otherside Deli is growing up with its very own restaurant. The new brick-and-mortar will be found on 1104 West 34th Street in Old West Austin.

Once the restaurant opens, sometime in late October or early November, the original truck at north campus bar Back Lot will shutter, but there is no set date for that yet. “It felt like the natural progression,” co-owner Conor Mack told Eater. “We believe this space will allow for us to make an even better deli.”

The all-day hours (from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) means the menu will greatly expand. For breakfast, there will be sandwiches made with bagels provided by Wholy Bagels, with schmears and fillings like pastrami, eggs, and cheese.

Then, for lunch and dinner, Otherside will try its hand at subs like cheesesteaks, meatball and eggplant parms, and Italians. The deli offerings will expand with latkes, lox, and more salads. Coffee will include roasts from Flat Track, as well as cold brew.

Staples from Otherside’s original menu, including that pastrami, corned beef, and chicken livers, will remain on the menu.

The physical restaurant space, which used to be home to Delaware Sub Shop, will include dine-in space, a covered patio, as well as takeout counter.

Co-owners Mack and Derrick Smith opened the truck ahead of Back Lot’s debut in November 2017.
