McGuire Moorman Hospitality and Bunkhouse Group are already onto their next restaurant. The forthcoming East Austin bodega, Lou’s, is named after chef Lou Lambert, who is involved with Bunkhouse and Lamberts Downtown Barbecue. It will be found on 1900 East Cesar Chavez Street.

While information is still scarce about the counter-service bodega (which should be more upscale than the average bodega, based on who’s involved), it will offer coffee, pastries, rotisserie (like chicken), soft serve, juices, wine, and beer, according to a Poached listing for a manager/lead barista. Porchetta is also in the works as noted by an Instagram post by Lou Lambert, who is known for his pig roasts.

Originally, the East Cesar Chavez address was pegged to become the third location of Bunkhouse’s coffee shop Jo’s Coffee, but those plans were clearly nixed.

MMH and Bunkhouse just opened the Austin Motel’s new restaurant on South Congress, Joann’s Fine Foods, earlier this month. Also on deck for MMH are the updated Swedish Hill Bakery & Cafe (née Sweetish Hill) and everything food- and drink-related in the Austin Proper in downtown. Bunkhouse is also working on another South Congress-area hotel, the Hotel Magdalena.
