— On November 3, Clarksville restaurant Better Half Coffee & Cocktails is previewing its forthcoming brewery Hold Out Brewing, which will be located next door. From 6 p.m. to 2 a.m, the new brewery will sell its merchandise and take over beer list, playlist, and the kitchen (which includes, from the looks of it, more burgers). Hold Out will provide beer for Better Half and its sibling restaurant Wright Bros Brew & Brew on the east side.
— The Arby’s on South Lamar is one of the few locations of the chain to have the original 10-gallon hat sign. Towers did a deep dive into the history behind the sign and how it has survived when others were taken down.
— Madras Pavilion, which was on Research Boulevard for 20 years, has new ownership and is now Zaika Indian Contemporary Cuisine. It will serve North and South Indian specialties, as well as Nepalese and Pakistani dishes.
— Bill Miller Bar-B-Que is heading to Cedar Park. There are 70 locations of the chain, which serves barbecue, fried chicken, breakfast tacos, and pies, across Texas and seven in the Austin area.
— Arizona is getting a location of an Austin-based restaurant and movie chain, but it’s not Alamo Drafthouse. After negotiations with the Drafthouse fell through, Flix Brewhouse is taking its place at a new Chandler development. Flix has 10 locations nationwide and is planning another Arizona expansion.
