Via 313, Austin’s favorite Detroit-style pizza restaurants and trailers, is opening its third brick-and-mortar in the east side. It’s taking over restaurant/bar/music venue/event space Collide ATX on East 6th Street. The latest Via is set to open sometime before the end of March.
And for more vital Via 313 news: the original pizza trailer in front of Violet Crown Social Club at 1111 East 6th Street will move, presumably so the restaurant and food truck don’t cannibalize customers. Co-owner Brandon Hunt said that the food truck will relocate when the new restaurant opens.
Hunt and Via 313 co-owner and brother Zane Hunt bought the East 6th Street space from Dunlap ATX, which was owned by Austin bartrepreneur Bridget Dunlap. This, of course, means that Collide, which was previously home to Dunlap’s pizzeria Burn, has been closed since last month. Collide Agency president Alan Miller told Eater that Collide ATX was intended to run for only a year. It’s currently looking into potential new spaces in Austin, as well as other cities.
Along with two Via 313 trailers (one on East Sixth, the other on Rainey Street) and two restaurants (one out in Oak Hill and the other up on Guadalupe), the Hunts also run Central East Austin everyday bar Nickel City (along with Travis Tober) and Detroit-style food truck Delray Cafe.
This article has been updated with more details on Collide ATX’s shutter.
