— Round Rock’s Teji’s Indian Restaurant and Grocery opened its fourth location this month right in downtown Austin. It’s found at 616 East 6th Street, the former home of Geisha Sushi and Grill right on Dirty Sixth. The menu, like the other locations, spans Indian fare like samosas, paratha, all sorts of curries, biryani, and sweets.

— Chicago advanced sommelier Jill Zimorkski won wine competition Somms Under Fire on Sunday. She is Moet Hennessey’s champagne specialist. She was up against advanced sommelier Nick Davis of Medium Plus in Seattle, and advanced sommelier Michael Descamps of Red Wagon Wine Shoppe in Michigan.
— Second Bar + Kitchen chef Kevin Donovan won the local edition of Chaine des Rôtisseurs Young Chef competition, which took place on Thursday, January 25. As a local finalist, he will go to Denver to compete with other finalists in the regional competition in early March. The winner of that will head to Charleston for the national competition in May.
