Better Half, the forthcoming all-day cafe from the Brew & Brew team, is previewing its menu with a pop-up this week. It’ll sling pastrami and smoked mushroom sandwiches from chef Rich Reimbolt at Brew & Brew on East 5th Street on Saturday, February 3. Also on deck is coffee from Heart Coffee Roasters. It runs from 2 to 6 p.m.
Better Half will become a neighborhood spot for counter-service Texas-inspired fare on 406 Walsh Street west of North Lamar. Think sandwiches, burgers, and biscuits, along with coffee, beer, and cocktails. The team includes Matthew Bolick, Matt and Grady Wright, as well as pastry chef Jennifer Tucker, bar manager Leenie Boyle, and general manager Mark Stowe.
This isn’t the only project that the Brew & Brew crew is working on either. Next door to Better Half will be a brewery, Hold Out Brewing, with head brewer Brent Sapstead. And then there’s Rainey street cafe and bar Little Brother. Everything is set to open this year.
