Houndstooth Coffee’s third Austin location is now open on 2823 East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The East Austin cafe is currently open under limited hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for this week. While it’s the first local location boasting of a cocktail menu, the mixed drinks won’t be available during that time for now. It'll expand with the full menu and hours on Saturday, February 10.
The new Houndstooth, much like the other two local locations, will serve up thoughtful espresso drinks, beer, and wine as well. The space features a patio, U-shaped counter, bar-seating, comfortable chairs, and more. The cafe opened up within mixed-use development Platform.
When it expands into regular hours, this Houndstooth’s full hour will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to midnight Friday through Saturday.
This is the sixth overall Texas location for Houndstooth, with three other cafes out in Dallas. One of those includes an adjacent cocktail bar Jettison, which focuses on strong as well as low-proof cocktails. Houndstooth owner Sean Henry opened the first coffee shop on North Lamar in 2010, followed by the downtown one in 2013.
