Downtown bar and music venue Parker Jazz Club is now open in the basement of 117 West 4th Street. In addition to live music, the lounge has a full bar and menu of snacks. Parker Jazz Club is open from 5 p.m. until 2 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The lounge is owned by Austin musician Kris Kimura (who has performed with Grupo Fantasma and many others) and restaurant pro Eric Leonard, a former GM of The Iron Cactus and J. Black’s who is part of the team behind the Hudson’s on the Bend revamp.

Parker Jazz Club is found in the same building as steakhouse chain Capitol Grille and Japanese restaurant Ra Sushi.

Parker Jazz Club isn’t the only jazz destination found in downtown Austin. The Elephant Room, another basement bar below Swift’s Attic and Counter 3. Five.VII, also features live music and drinks. The Brass House had a similar format before shuttering in 2016. Elsewhere, other jazz options include The Skylark Lounge on Airport and The Continental Club on South Congress.
