Intero, Austin’s latest contemporary Italian restaurant, is set to open in Holly starting on Saturday, January 20. It will be found within the iconic Bud’s Motorcycle Shop on East Cesar Chavez near North Pleasant Valley Road.

Co-owner Ian Thurwachter will oversee the kitchen, where he will make a point of using whole animals and produce for the restaurant’s menu. That’ll span pastas, entrees, and family-style dishes. He previously worked at Vespaio, Jeffrey’s, and Lambert’s.

Intero will feature a chocolate counter, which makes sense since co-owner Krystal Craig is the owner of Crave Artisan Chocolate. It’ll include truffles, barks, and sipping chocolates. The beverage program includes coffee, wine, and cocktails.

Intero’s space features tables and wood finishes by Thurwachter and other reclaimed materials. The restaurant can fit 84 people in the dining room, and it also includes a ten-person private dining room. There are a garden and waiting area as well.

Rounding out the team is McVay Bennett as general manager and partner. His previous positions include working as a captain and sommelier during Jeffrey’s reopening, managing Jasper’s Restaurants, and working at Pappadeaux’s.

Thurwachter and Craig raised additional money for Intero through crowdfunding investment site NextSeed

Intero will be open for dinner starting from 4:30 p.m. to late hours Tuesday through Sunday. Just two blocks west is Northern Italian restaurant Juniper from chef Nicholas Yanes.
