In the place of the now-closed Silo on 7th is a new gluten-free restaurant from Wild Wood Bakehouse. Wilder Wood Restaurant and Bar expands on the bakery’s offerings with a full menu. All fried items are made with rice oil.
Like its predecessor, Wilder Wood’s menu emphasizes burgers, like one topped with guacamole, another made with a bison patty, the vegetarian-friendly Portobello mushroom provolone, and the spicy Texas Heater. It even kept some of Silo’s burgers, like the Lydia made with Angus beef patty, white cheddar cheese, and honey habanero sauce; the Waller with mushrooms; and the Navasota with a ground pork patty and grilled avocado.
Elsewhere, the offerings span Texas and Tex-Mex dishes like queso, fried calamari, salads, tacos, tamales, chicken fried steak, enchiladas, and more. Breakfast includes eggs, migas, French toast, and waffles. The restaurant will feature two full bars as well.
For now, it is open from 10 a.m. to 20 p.m. Friday, September 8 through Saturday, September 9. It is closed on Sunday, September 10, and it will announce its expanded hours later.
