North Loop neighborhood spot Workhorse Bar is taking over north campus dive bar Nasty’s. Owners Steve Ettle and Brent Broyles will turn the bar into Back Lot. Workhorse's website touts the new bar already with a note reading:
"We are grateful for all the great memories Nasty's has given us and to Jack [Bloom, Nasty’s owner] for allowing us the opportunity.
Back Lot.
Coming Soon!”
A Workhorse Bar employee told Eater that it is’s projected to open in November. The new bar is meant to keep the same Nasty’s neighborhood vibe, but with an updated feel, much like Workhorse. The team will reveal more details later on.
Nasty’s, which opened in 1985, was known for its Monday hip-hop nights with DJ Mel and viewings of rugby games. Last month, DJ Mel he ended his residency because of this change in management.
This doesn’t mean that Workhorse Bar is relocating or shutting down. This is just Ettle and Broyles’ second bar. The duo opened Workhorse in 2012.
