Popular coffeeshop and bar Halcyon has now completed its expansion from downtown to the Mueller district. Following suit is sister restaurant Stella Public House, with its first Austin location. Both are open now.
The new location of Halcyon features a much larger menu than the other Austin location. In addition to cafe fare like sandwiches and salads (and the popular campfire s’mores), the Mueller location also offers flatbreads (the Foghorn Leghorn has chicken, roasted poblanos, roasted corn, bacon, avocado, and cilantro-lime crema). Brunch selections span from healthy acai bowls to French toast with a brown sugar crumble and cream cheese smear. Halcyon also has a happy hour that runs until 8 p.m. that includes $6 espresso cocktails.
Halcyon’s Mueller menu looks fairly similar to the one San Antonio. The coffeeshop also has outposts in Dallas and San Diego.
Next door, Stella Public House centers around a “farm to pizza” theme, and similarly has locations open in San Antonio and San Diego. The restaurant makes use of a wood-fired oven for entrees (scallops, salmon, and steak) and pizzas, and future brunch plans feature wood-fired pancakes. Dinner offerings also include small plates like duck confit bolognese.
The airy space was designed by Maker Architects, who also worked on Vinaigrette. Halcyon Mueller is open from 7 a.m. until midnight daily. For now, Stella is currently open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
The grand opening party for both Halcyon and Stella Public House is scheduled for October 6.
