El Naranjo’s Mexico Earthquake Benefit Dinner, and More A.M. Intel

The latest restaurant tidbits in Austin served right now

— El Naranjo chef Iliana De La Vega is teaming up with San Antonio chef Gabriel Ibarra (Cappy’s Cappyccino, and La Fonda on Maine) for a special dinner benefitting earthquake relief in Oaxaca and Mexico City. The $75 dinner will be donated to Citibanamex Compromiso Social, which will match all donations. The three-course dinner includes agave spirits and wine pairings. It takes place at El Naranjo on Thursday, September 28 with two seatings, one at 5:30 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. The restaurant will collect additional donations as well.

— Far southwest coffee shop Jolt expanded with a new next-door restaurant, Jolt Bistro, as well as a food truck, Baby Jolts, parked on South Lamar.

— Rock band Two Door Cinema Club stopped by Swift’s Attic for dinner before their show on Tuesday.

— Future Bee Cave development Gateway to Falconhead will include a new sushi restaurant, Bon Sushi, which will open next month.

— AustiNight Inc. is a new business focused on curating evening experiences for people with dinners and live shows, with participating restaurants like Wu Chow, Peche, and Russian House.
