— West Lake Hills coffee shop Trianon is closing at the end of the year because it wasn't given the chance to renew the lease by the West Woods Shopping Center owners, according to co-owner Michael Sexton. This was "because they want a bright, new coffee shop to enhance their image," he wrote in an email newsletter. Taking its place is another location of moon milk-slinging Summer Moon Coffee Bar, which is looking to open in February or March. There are four Austin-area locations of the coffee shop already, with several others as well. It’s also working on another one on Farm to Market Road 620.
— It turns out that restaurant Sullivan's Steakhouse won't shutter if the planned downtown high-rise building taking over its address is approved. Instead, it will reopen in the new structure.
— While Texas Monthly barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn doesn't usually go for beer with his barbecue, he does enjoy of German-style berliner weisse.
— Skylark Lounge landed in the number one spot in Yelp's ranking of the best music venues of the country. Also on the list are Cactus Cafe and Little Longhorn Saloon from Austin. The rankings were based on ratings and review numbers.
— Fans of central East Austin spot Nickel City can buy the bar’s single barrel selections at next-door liquor shop JJ Spirits now.
— Once again, JW Marriott sold the most alcohol in Austin in June, followed by Circuit of the America's and the Rose Room.
— Royal Blue Grocery reopened its original location on 2nd Street with a newly expanded digs with double the space. It added outdoor seating, espresso bar, and new vendors like East Side Pies and Tacodeli.
