Coffee trailer Lucky Lab Coffee Co. opened its first brick and mortar home within Urban Outfitters’ Space 24 Twenty. It debuted this week in the former Pizzeria Vetri space on the Drag, featuring a patio, indoor seating, and a walk-up window.
Like the trailer, Lucky Lab’s new cafe will serve Third Coast coffee drinks, along with tea and house-made lemonades. The full kitchen will churn out pastries, like fruit-filled pop tarts, and lighter lunch items available for dine in or to-go.
Lucky isn’t new to the retail company’s “lifestyle concept” Space 24 Twenty. The trailer had been parked in the space’s food truck court since February 2016.
Owners Ron and Courtney Hutton opened the trailer in 2014. Along with the trailer, they also oversee the coffee bar in the Perry Brooks Building on 8th and Brazos streets.
Space 24 Twenty lost both of its original restaurants from out-of-town chefs this year. First, there was the Texas expansion of Philadelphia chef Michael Vetri’s pizzeria chain and then Ohio chef Michael Symon’s fast-casual burger joint.
Next up is hot dog expert Frank, which takes over Symon’s vacated counter-service spot. That should open this summer as well.
