Second Bar and Kitchen’s long-awaited location in the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport finally has its opening date: Tuesday, August 22. The La Corsha Hospitality Group restaurant will be found at Gate 7.
Update, 2:35 p.m.: And the opening date is being pushed back already to Tuesday, August 29.
The new Second Bar will offer a familiar menu from founding chef David Bull’s original 2nd Street location under the helm of executive chef Jesse Marco (he previously worked at Vino Vino). This means pizzas like the black truffle and bleu cheese one, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and other favorite dishes like the buffalo fried pickles.
Overseeing the drinks is La Corsha’s director of bars and beverage Jason Stevens. It’ll serve up some of the same cocktails from the restaurant, like the Green River with vodka, ruby grapefruit, and chartreuse, along with new ones like its take on the Pain Killer. Paula Rester, the wine director of the hospitality group, is curating the list. It’ll also include local beers available by bottle, can, and draft.
The Second Bar airport space will feature dine in service. Its hours are from 4:30 a.m. until 30 minutes after the last flight of the day leaves every day.
Second Bar joins Austin-Bergstrom's local-friendly dining options, which already includes Salt Lick, Hoover's, and Maudie's. The restaurant scene is about to undergo a serious upgrade with a slew of new additions like Tacodeli, Peached Tortilla, and Flyrite Chicken.
