Delicious, the South Lamar restaurant, deli, and market in Lamar Union, is now closed. Its last day was on Sunday, July 30. Its Facebook page warns that it is temporary, but doesn’t offer any further details. It is being replaced by a new concept, but what exactly that will entail or when it will open isn’t known yet.
Owner Raj Singh, the person behind Live Oak Market on Manchaca Road, opened Delicious last summer with sandwiches, tacos, and other dishes from chef Tyler Johnson, alongside wine, beer, retail items, produce, and other groceries. This was followed by an outpost of the deli in the Bullock Texas State History Museum, dubbed the Story of Texas Cafe. That still remains open.
Eater has reached out for more information. Watch this space for updates.
Delicious’ closure is just the latest of the Lamar Union shutters. First, there was Asti’s South Austin Italian cafe Cantine, which closed in May (it’s being replaced by a second location of Japanese restaurant Soto). That was followed by Vox Table’s higher-end Mexican restaurant El Burro, which suddenly closed last month. There’s no word on what will take over that location.
At the end of business today, we will be closing temporarily. Please stay tuned for further details. Thank you for being part of the experience so far, we are truly grateful for each and everyone of you!
