Chef Joel Fried has ventured out on his own with Eldorado Cafe, after spending more than ten years at Tacodeli. His new project, the Mexican-inspired comfort food restaurant on West Anderson Lane, will open on Tuesday, August 8.
Fried envisions Eldorado as a neighborhood spot, where people will gather over breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Expect to see dishes like Cuban-style carnitas, short rib machacado, signature salsas, fresh limeade margaritas, and shiny ribs glazed with a sweet adobo sauce. Despite the abundant selections of braised meat, the restaurant also promises vegetarian and vegan options. The dessert menu continues the comfort-food theme, with sopapilla cheesecake, skillet cherry pie, and homemade cookies.
Along with Tacodeli, Fried works for Vespaio, Whole Foods, and old-school Austin classic Jean Pierre's Upstairs.
North Shoal Creek is home to a lot of openings these days. The fourth location of Jack Allen’s Kitchen, OneTaco, and brunch spot First Watch have joined the neighborhood, to name a few.
