The Halal Guys, the way-popular Middle Eastern fast casual cart and restaurant empire, is making its Austin debut in July on Guadalupe Street with preview hours, though nothing is announced. It will be open on Saturday, July 15 at the very least. This is the city’s first location of the franchise. It will be open for lunch, dinner, and late night hours.

Update, July 6: Looks like Halal Guys’ preview hours will begin on Monday, July 10, but the exact times aren’t known yet.

Halal Guys is lauded for its craveable halal chicken, gyro, falafels, served in rice platters or pita sandwiches, alongside fries, hummus, baklavas, and the famous spicy hot and white sauces (getting both is a pro move).

Helming the Austin location are Rizwan Maredia as director of operations, Adil Maknojia as general manager, and Tarek Alshalkmi as training manager. Founders of Halal Guys, Muhammed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsaka, and Abdelbaset Elsayed, opened the very first cart on the streets of New York City in the 1990s, and it quickly grew with other carts and brick and mortar restaurants throughout the world.

The team had been looking for the perfect Austin address for some time since 2015, and finally settled on Guadalupe Street. The Austin location of Halal Guys took over I Luv Video's address on Guadalupe Street.
