— Lines for Oasthouse Kitchen + Bar’s umami burger (where the patty was blended with oyster mushrooms) were really long during Austin Food & Wine Festival, so the northwest restaurant decided to offer the dish on its menu for a limited time. Boiler Nine Bar + Grill is offering its own take, too, with a lamb and cremini chorizo burger. It’s part of the James Beard Foundation’s Blended Burger Project, available now through the end of July.

— The barbecue bill, which nixes scale inspections and visibility requirements, was passed by Governor Greg Abbott yesterday. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller must not be happy.

— Uncle Billy’s Brewery is teaming up with returning Celis Brewery to up its beer production in the north Austin facility. Celis doesn’t have an opening date just yet.

— Austin's giant surf park, which reopened for the season in May, is still planning on opening that brewery, NLand Brewing Co., in the fall.

Comfort food trailer Hot Mess is expanding with a second food truck, Hot Mess Italian, as part of Infinite Monkey Theorem’s grounds.

— Thai mini-chain Madam Mam's is now open in its new location on the Drag.

Money Inc. is excited about Fareground, Austin's first proper food fall.
