Symon’s Burger Joint, the counter-service spot from Cleveland chef Michael Symon, closed within Urban Outfitters’ Space 24 Twenty on the Drag after opening in 2015. Similarly, Philadelphia chef Marc Vetri closed his Austin location of Pizzeria Vetri, which was also found in the Urban Outfitters complex, earlier this year as well.

Just up the street is In-N-Out's campus location on the Drag as well, which opened in December 2016. This probably contributed to Burger Joint’s demise. Symon's Burger Joint was based on the chef's fast casual burger chain B Spot.

“We’re taking some time to focus on projects in the Midwest and our new spot Angeline in Atlantic City,” Symon explained Eater, “but would love the opportunity to serve the people of Austin again someday.”

There is no word from Urban as to what will happen to both restaurant spaces, but Vetri’s abandoned pizzeria has been used for some events. The food truck court remains.

Symon oversees Cleveland-based restaurants, including diner Lola Bistro, Mabel's BBQ, and the upcoming Sherla's Chicken and Oyster. Angeline is his most recent restaurant, dedicated to Italian food, within the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in New Jersey.
