Austin taco slingers Tacodeli is bringing its famous salsas to the people by offering packaged versions of the condiments available for sale in various Whole Foods Markets. This includes the ever-spicy salsa dona, the medium salsa roja, and the mild salsa verde.
Alas, don’t expect to find the packaged salsas in New York or California. The 12 ounce containers will only be found in Whole Foods within Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Each will be available to take home starting on Friday, May 5, for $6.99 a piece.
Founders and Roberto Espinosa and Eric Wilkerson opened the first Tacodeli in 1999 on Spyglass Drive. Other locations quickly followed with a total of five in the city. The Austin-born mini-taco chain started looking beyond the city, opening branches in Houston and Dallas. That original location underwent renovations last summer, which added more indoor seating, a larger kitchen, and second bathroom.
