Acclaimed San Antonio chef, restaurateur, and Iron Chef Gauntlet competitor Jason Dady is opening a modern American steakhouse, Range, late this summer in downtown San Antonio. The restaurant will take over the space along the River Walk formerly occupied by the once-celebrated Lüke by New Orleans chef and James Beard Award winner John Besh.
Range will offer lunch and dinner and is aiming to spotlight the bounty of Texas Hill Country including local beef, Gulf Coast seafood, and game dishes like bobwhite quail from Central Texas. An extensive wine list featuring both new and old world selections, classic cocktails, and local craft beers is also in the works. The space boasts floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the San Antonio River.
Dady is currently the executive chef/owner of six San Antonio restaurants including Tre Trattoria, Tre Enoteca, Shuck Shack, Two Bros. BBQ Market, B&D Ice House, and the Bin Tapas Bar. Range will be the chef’s first steakhouse. Dady is also a participant on Food Network’s Iron Chef Gauntlet and was in town last weekend for the Austin Food & Wine Festival.
Besh’s Lüke San Antonio closed in February after more than six years of business. It was the sibling restaurant to the original Lüke in New Orleans and marked Besh’s first restaurant outside of Louisiana.
