— San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich appears to have left a hefty tip during a Memphis dinner at McEwen's last week. He tipped $5,000 on top of the $815.73 bill. While restaurant owner Bert Smithe wouldn't confirm that the coach dined that specific day to the San Antonio-Express News, he did say he was a frequent customer. The team was in Tennessee for the playoffs against the Memphis Grizzlies.

— Franklin Barbecue unveiled its housemade sausages, and writer The Smoking Ho was impressed with the results. Pitmaster Aaron Franklin has been perfecting the links for a bit, installing new equipment in the restaurant and tinkering with the recipe. Previously, Franklin's sausages were made by Texas Sausage Company with Franklin's formula.

— Tasting Table called La Condesa’s zanahoria (Spanish for carrot) dish one of the country’s best brunch dishes, though it's only available on the weekends sometimes.

— Blast from the '90s blast: alternative rock band Incubus stopped by Wu Chow for dinner this week.
