The campus favorite vegetarian restaurant Veggie Heaven is finally reopening on West 5th Street, after a whole bunch of inspection and permitting delays. Its opening date is set for Wednesday, May 3. In the meantime, owner Stacy Chen is looking to hire waiters and other staffers.
With the new location, Chen changed the vegetarian restaurant’s focus to just vegan dishes. Thankfully, the popular Protein 2000 dish with vegetables, soybeans, and brown sauce will remain on the menu. It’ll serve up Asian dishes including stir fry, fried rice, quesadillas, wraps, and bubble tea.
The original Veggie Heaven, run by Stacy’s mother Mei Chin, shuttered on Guadalupe Street in December 2014, because she wanted to retire. Stacy took over the business, relocated south of Clarksville. Stacy is also in the middle of opening another restaurant, Yoshi Kitchen, which will serve ramen and Taiwanese and Japanese dishes up in Hancock.
