Spin, the ping pong/restaurant/bar chain that happens to be co-owned by actress Susan Sarandon, is coming to Austin. It’ll set up shop right in downtown within one of Antone’s former homes on West 5th Street, opening sometime in the fall.

“We chose Austin because it was important to expand to a city that had a rich music, art, and culinary scene,” said the ping pong club’s CEO Pieter Vanermen, “along with an entrepreneurial and tech community that would embrace the Spin experience.”

For ping pong enthusiasts, Spin will have 14 tables that will be available for tournaments or casual play. The space also includes lounges. The restaurant menu should include flatbread pizza, sliders, milkshakes, and sharable plates. As for drinks, there will be cocktails, beer, and coffee.

Spin is also launching a new virtual reality program, where players can challenge other competitors in different cities, with an entire ranking system. The ping pong club is previewing the app during the SXSW Sports kickoff party on Friday, March 10.

Sarandon co-owns Spin with Jonathan Bricklin and Franck Raharinosy, which first opened in New York in 2009, followed by locations in Chicago, San Francisco, Toronto, Los Angeles, and the forthcoming Philadelphia one. Austin will be its seventh location.
