— Someone(s) vandalized the iconic “I Love You So Much” mural outside of Jo’s Coffee on South Congress again, spraypainting “Fuck Austin” on top of the red letters last night. The sign is being fixed over right now. This isn't the first time the artwork had been defaced. In 2015, someone crossed it out, and someone tagged it in 2011.
— Liquor.com unveiled its picks for the best bars around the world, divided up into categories which feature a bunch of Austin spots. Small Victory is one of the “new kids,” Half Step as both one of the “survivors” and “team players,” Blackheart for whiskey, Isla for rum, and a bunch of dive-y bars were included in the neighborhood bars.
— Snap Kitchen is popping up in downtown Austin with a container storage pod on West 3rd Street and Congress Avenue. It’ll serve up breakfast, lunch, and juices from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
— Cuba512 (formerly known as Guantanamera Cuban Cuisine) is expanding its space for its two year anniversary. By the summer, there will be a new indoor/outdoor area with lounge and bar.
— Newcomer modern Mexican restaurant Grizzelda’s is introducing Sunday brunch service starting on March 12. The buffet-style meal will include enchiladas, chilaquiles, taco bar, meats from Jacoby’s, and pastries, along with brunch cocktails like aguas frescas, Bloody Marys, and Micheladas. Brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will cost $30 per adult, $18 for children between the ages of five to 12.
— Daytime restaurant Forthright will open for dinner hours during SXSW, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., with a tap takeover by Friends & Allies Brewing.
— New food website Southern Kitchen visited Tatsu Aikawa and Takuya Matsumoto at their new restaurant, Kemuri.
