Twin Peaks, the eerie thriller show dreamt up by auteur David Lynch, is coming back to television this year. With its return, Austin will get a taste of the Pacific Northwest when the show’s iconic Double R Diner pops up during SXSW, doling out free coffee, cherry pie, and doughnuts next door to The Showtime House, which is taking over Clive Bar.
Line up for uncanonical cold-brew coffee from High Brew Coffee (Agent Dale Cooper only drinks hot cups of coffee) and cherry pies from Tiny Pies (unlike the slices served at the diner). Voodoo Doughnuts is also creating a special doughnut inspired by the show, perhaps a glazed one. These will be available each day for only an hour from noon to 1 p.m. Scope out the full doughnut menu below. Also expect themed cocktails, and chill musical performances from the likes of Real Estate, Neko Case, and M. Ward.
Double R Diner’s doors on Rainey Street will open only for two days from Thursday, March 16 to Friday, March 17. RSVPs are required, but do not guarantee entry.
Showtime is teaming up with Collide for this Twin Peaks experience. You’ll remember them as the agency that partnered with Bridget Dunlap to convert pizzeria Burn into an everything-space Collide ATX.
It goes without saying that when you enter #TwinPeaks, there will always be . Stop by Austin's @VoodooDoughnut today for free doughnuts! pic.twitter.com/5ufNURaAZz
