Veracruz All Natural Is Finally Opening a Taco Restaurant in Austin

Austin’s favorite taco trailer Veracruz All Natural is finally opening up its first Austin-area restaurant in North Burnet. The grand opening is pegged for Saturday, May 20, but notes that the date may change.

Update, May 8: Yup, the grand opening date is being pushed back to Saturday, June 3.

Veracruz co-owners and sisters Reyna and Maritza Vazquez originally wanted to open a brick and mortar closer to Austin central on 2301 East Cesar Chavez, but those plans fell through in 2014 over permitting issues. The cherished taco slingers decided to look to Round Rock for their first physical restaurant, which debuted in April 2016.

Reyna told Eater previously that they were still looking for the perfect Austin location, and that they were "thinking about new ideas for a concept that would complement our existing food trucks, but offer our clients something new."

Taco lovers should expect to find the same beloved menu full of tacos (migas, fish, chicken mole, al pastor, etc.), quesadillas, tortas, spicy salsas, aguas frescas, juices, smoothies, and more. Much like the Round Rock location, there should be other specials, think chile relleno tacos, barbacoa tacos, enchiladas, whole fish dishes, and others. The new restaurant will also include a coffee program from trailer Machine Head Coffee.

Veracruz also runs two crowded trailers on East Cesar Chavez and Manchaca Road (with Radio Coffee Bar). The Vazquezes opened the Eater 38 spot in 2008.

The 9003 Waterford Centre Boulevard address means the taco spot joins Austin’s growing brewery epicenter. Nearby neighbors are Austin Beerworks, Adelbert's Brewery, Oskar Blues Brewery, Circle Brewing Company, NXNW Restaurant and Brewery, and 4th Tap Co-op Brewery.
