Along with San Antonio cafe Local Coffee’s first Austin location set for Seaholm comes a new name change. It will now have the more search-friendly name of Merit Coffee. It’s set to open in December.

The coffee shop is also looking to open two other locations in the city, though details aren’t available for those just yet.

Merit Coffee will serve coffee and espresso drinks. For food, there will be tacos from Tacodeli and Juice Society juices. Two San Antonio spots will also hawk edible goods at Merit. There are those promised exclusive pastries and pies from Bakery Lorraine and doughnuts from Maybelle’s Donuts. Bakery Lorraine is actually expanding into Austin with a spot up in Rock Rose by fall 2018.

Robby Grubbs opened the first Local Coffee in 2008 in San Antonio, followed by five other locations. He and CFO Bill Ellis opened the coffee roasting company Merit Roasting Co., based in San Antonio as well, in 2014.

The six San Antonio cafes will be rebranded as well.
