— Former Roberta's pizza slinger Anthony Falco is taking over Cane Rosso for a pizza pop-up this month. The pizzeria will also serve up ranch for those who so choose to dip their pizza in the sauce. The pizza options include the classic made with Texas cheddar and both fresh and aged mozzarella; the biellese pepperoni and pickled jalapeno one with a side of ranch; and the Veggie Delight with a mess of vegetables like roasted mushrooms, olives, and bell peppers; the Palace Special with pork sausage, plus an additional secret pie. It takes place on Friday, December 22 starting at 6 p.m. The pizzeria’s full menu is also available at the same time. The last time Falco was in Austin, he took over Bufalina’s ovens for Roberta’s pop-up in 2016, which included a pie topped with Franklin Barbecue brisket.
— Several Austin restaurant owners and chefs signed a letter in support of a city-wide paid sick day policy as part of Work Strong Austin's initiative. This includes Home Slice Pizza's Joseph Strickland, L'Oca d'Oro's Adam Orman, Parkside Projects Shawn Cirkiel, and more.
— East Side brewery Hops & Grain can now sell its beer to-go at the taproom, thanks to its new brewpub permit. It begins on Thursday, December 21.
— Cookie delivery service and shop Tiff's Treats opened its next store in Steiner Ranch over the weekend. This is its eighth Austin-area location.
