J. Leonardi's Barbeque Is Opening a Second Barbecue Trailer in Central East Austin

East Austin barbecue trailer J. Leonardi’s Barbeque is expanding with a second location on 1124 East 11th Street. It will open tomorrow, Tuesday, November 14 at 11 a.m..

J. Leonardi’s is known for meats by the pound, with options like brisket, sausage, assorted ribs (pork, beef, baby back), chicken, and turkey. Then there are sides like pinto beans laced with brisket, jalapeno corn, and more, plus banana pudding cheesecake and peach cobbler for desserts.

Sandwiches range from chopped brisket to the Texan (chopped beef, crumbled potato chips, and lean brisket on a sweet bun) to the namesake J. Leonardi (beef sausage with cheese and crackers).

For J. Leonardi’s Barbeque, pitmaster Jerome Faulkner teamed up with Cedric Leonard Griffin (former football player for University of Texas, Minnesota Vikings, and Washington Redskins). Faulkner learned how to smoke meats with his uncle. They opened the original trailer on on Airport Boulevard in December 2016.

Faulkner and Griffin decided to open the second trailer because the right opportunity presented itself, and they look forward to serving a different, busier location.

J. Leonardi’s East 11th Street hours are from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, or until everything is sold out.
