Torchy’s Tacos Expands Into Pflugerville, and More A.M. Intel

— Torchy's Tacos is expanding with a new location with its first restaurant in Pflugerville. It's set to open in the Stone Hill Town Center sometime next year.

Food & Wine checked in with the first-ever American team that will compete in the World Butchers' Challenge, which includes Salt & Time's Bryan Butler. They practice breaking down animals once a month in California. The competition takes place March 2018 in Ireland.

— Chi'lantro founder Jae Kim received the Immigrant Achievement Award from American Gateways, nonprofit legal services for immigrants.

— Red River’s temporary noise curfew extension, where the area’s music venues and bars can is up soon, and, based on data gathered so far, business increased overall. Austin City Council might extend the pilot program for more data.

— Travel guide Lonely Planet named the country’s best ten neighborhoods. The list includes Austin’s South First stretch because it’s “an appealing mix of old and new” with houses and restaurants. It highlighted Bouldin Creek Cafe and Torchy’s Tacos’ original trailer.

— Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew is featured in a commercial for JetBlue, where comedians the Sklar Brothers head to the barbecue joint for ribs.
