— Austin-born Southwestern restaurant chain Z’Tejas closed up its West Parmer Lane location last week, along with some Arizona restaurants too. It's because the chain is "concentrat[ing] on our strongest locations,” according to its website. That includes the one in the Arboretum and West 6th Street.
— Austin Food & Wine Alliance is accepting culinary grant applications right now. Every year, the organization seeks to give away $50,000 to people in the food and restaurant industry. Previous recipients include Miche Bread and Srsly Chocolate. The deadline is Friday, December 1st.
— Wright Bros. Brew & Brew’s forthcoming counter service restaurant Better Half on West 5th Street hired a new executive chef, according to Austin 360. Co-owners Matthew Bolick and Grady Wright welcomed chef Rich Reimbolt to the team. He was previously the chef de cuisine at Josephine House, as well as helped open Jeffrey's reboot with the McGuire Moorman Hospitality team.
