In more chef departures, downtown tasting menu restaurant Counter 3.Five.VII is losing its executive chef, Damien Brockway, as reported by Austin 360. The chef’s last day at the restaurant will be on Saturday, October 28.
Brockway is leaving the restaurant to spend more time with his family, as well as turn his attention to a new project, though he didn’t reveal those details to the publication. His replacement at the restaurant hasn't been named yet.
Counter’s original co-owner and founding chef Lawrence Kocurek opened the restaurant in 2015 with partner Eric Earthman. Kocurek left later that summer to spend more time with his family as well as potentially open a pig farm in North Texas. Then-chef de cuisine Brockway was promoted to executive chef.
Counter 3.Five.VII remains one of Austin's few fine dining restaurants in Austin. It focuses on serving three-, five-, and seven-course meals within its intimate 26-person counter space.
Earlier today, Apis chef Adam Brick announced he was leaving the Spicewood restaurant and its next-door casual sibling Pizzeria Sorellina to work on his own venture.
