After local coffee shop Trianon was not offered the chance to renew its lease in August (to considerable community uproar), it looks like the West Lake Hills standby has found a new home. Trianon’s new location is only a half mile away, in the Westlake Square shopping center at 3636 Bee Caves Road.
Trianon’s current location at West Woods shopping center will be taken over by Summer Moon Coffee Bar, which has several locations around central Texas. The Austin-based coffee chain is known for its wood-fired coffee and seasonal “moon milk” beverages, and has ten locations. The new cafe should open in February or March of next year.
Trianon owners were not shy about expressing their displeasure when they were not given the opportunity to renew the lease on the space the shop has occupied since 1985.
“We’re certainly being forced out,” co-owner Michael Sexton told the Statesman. “We’re not shiny and bright enough for the new owners who came in.” Summer Moon co-owner Justin Terry “made it clear that his business never lobbied to have Trianon removed.”
Trianon’s new leased space is 1,837 square feet. No word yet on when it will open.
