In a somewhat unlikely pairing, the teams behind high-end restaurant Jeffrey’s and dive bar Deep Eddy Cabaret have worked together to open a tiki bar and burger trailer. Located between the dive bar and Deep Eddy Pool, Pool Burger serves cocktails to be enjoyed in the island-vibe yard and burgers from a 1968 Airstream. It is now open daily at 2315 Lake Austin Boulevard.
Pool Burger features hormone-and-antibiotic-free beef from Peeler Farms in Floresville, Texas, plus a house-made veggie patty, crinkle fries, and homemade dark chocolate and Tahitian vanilla soft-serve with a variety of toppings. In terms of drinks, the full bar, separate from the trailer, has a focus on classic tiki cocktails like Mai Tais and a frozen Hurricane. The full menu is below.
The trailer is a partnership between Larry McGuire and Tom Moorman (of McGuire Moorman Hospitality, the group behind Jeffrey’s, Elizabeth Street Cafe, and Clark’s, among others), and Will Bridges, who is a partner in several iconic Austin spots including Deep Eddy Cabaret, Antone’s, and Cisco’s. The trio already work together at Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue.
Pool Burger opens at noon daily, closing at 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, at midnight on Friday and Saturday, and at 6 p.m. on Sundays.
