The latest restaurant tidbits in Austin served right now

— 78704 salad favorite Vinaigrette is emphasizing the soup section of their menu with a “Around The World in 40 Soups” rotating menu through next spring. A global array of soups will be served as a weekly special, and a promotional passport will be given to customers for a “one year of free soup” drawing.

— Extra Crispy and Splenda partner for a food truck event on 10/28 that will bring free iced coffee to Austin. My Name Is Joe’s Philip Speer will choose the coffee creation for the promotion, which will pop up at the Austin Film Festival.

— On 10/19, the City of Austin will throw a free “Feeding The 5000” lunch on the Texas State Capitol South Lawn with cooking demonstrations and guest speakers. The event hopes to raise awareness for both World Food Day and the city’s zero waste initiatives.

Lucky Robot celebrates their 5th anniversary this month with a charitable promotion: Guests who mention the week’s featured charity will have 15% of their check donated to the cause. Beneficiaries include SRCC Neighborhood Association, Austin Pets Alive, and LifeWorks.
