Lavaca Street Bar is coming to South Austin for its third location. The sports bar is taking over World of Beer’s shuttered location on South Lamar, along with seafood-focused Turf ‘n Surf Po’Boys, run by Ralph Gilmore.

The original bar opened in 1989 on, of course, Lavaca Street, followed by the second one within within Rock Rose, which opened this spring. As with the others, expect beer, drinks, and television screens with the new spot when it opens this winter.

Lavaca is run by FBR Management, which is overseeing the transformation of historic Dawson Stone House into Stonehouse Coffee + Bar, also on South Lamar, and also opening this winter. The group oversees Gibson Street Bar, Star Bar, Rattle Inn, The Wheel, and Graceland Grocery, and revamps of Mean Eyed Cat and Lala’s Little Nugget.

World of Beer quickly closed down its only Austin location earlier this February, after being open for almost a year. It was known for offering over 500 different types of beers. This was the Tampa, Florida-based beer chain's only Austin outlet.
