John Mueller Meat Co.’s trailer was seized by the state today because of "nonpayment of taxes, penalty, or interest," as seen and Tweeted by Statesman reporter Philip Jankowski. He took photos of the seizure notices placed on the locked-up trailer and noted that the picnic tables were locked up.

Eater spoke to pitmaster and owner John Mueller, who just assured that the trailer will be reopened next week.

Update, August 29: John Mueller Meat Co. will remain closed during the investigation. KVUE revealed that it owes $92,542.76 worth of taxes.

Update, 2:04 p.m.: Jankowski reports that Mueller owes a lot of money.

John Mueller opened the trailer in 2013 after he was ousted from what was then known as JMueller BBQ in 2012, run with his sister LeAnn Mueller. She said his departure was because he "mismanage[d] again." Both siblings are of the famous Mueller barbecue family. JMueller BBQ became La Barbecue under pitmaster John Lewis. Last fall, Mueller’s large pit trailer was stolen.
