40 North, the Neapolitan-style pizza slingers, is shutting down the food truck this month. But never fear: owner and chef Clint Elmore plans on coming back in the form of a brick and mortar restaurant by next year. Further details on those goals aren’t known just yet. The last day of service will be on Saturday, July 30.

Elmore opened the trailer on South First in December 2014. 40 became lauded for hot honey-laced and kale pies, along with daily specials and desserts. The pies often sell out. To prep for the trailer, Elmore studied pizza-making in Italy and Brooklyn.

Keeping up the Italian theme is neighbor Regal Ravioli in the South 1st Street lot. Other Neapolitan pizza purveyors in Austin include Bufalina, The Backspace, Spartan Pizza, and more.
