Austin's pizza boom continues with the expansion of DeSano Pizza Bakery into the city. The Nashville-born shop will be found over at 8000 Burnet Road, near Alamo Drafthouse Village, opening in early September.

Everything in the shop is sourced from Italy, right down to the buffalo mozzarella cheese. The menu will be the same as the others: special and traditional pies, meatballs, calzones, salads, and Italian desserts, including a Nutella pie. Drinks-wise, there will be Italian beers and wines to peruse.

DeSano cares about pizza so much that there will be a dedicated dough room. The space will also include an open kitchen, four wood-fired ovens, and communal seating for diners.

Its other two locations became essential pizza shops in Los Angeles and in Charleston. Scott DeSano opened the Nashville pizzeria in 2012.

In Austin, Neapolitan pizzerias include Bufalina, Unit D Pizzeria, and Dallas’ Cane Rosso. There’s also been a recent boom of pizza chains expanding into the city.
