Second Bar + Kitchen’s expansion to north Austin, as part of Archer Hotel, is set to open its doors sometime in mid-August. The second location of the Eater 38 restaurant will venture into new menu territories with breakfast and easy poolside snacking. The latter means Bloody Mary shrimp cocktails and easy drinks.
David Bull, the La Corsha Hospitality Group’s partner and Second Kitchen’s founding chef, told Eater that breakfast will begin at 6:30 a.m. for early birds. The space includes a second floor terrace. The restaurant’s staff will also oversee room service offerings, available to hotel guests 24/7, as well as catering with banquet space.
Bull will hang his hat at the Domain Northside location, while Casey Wilcox, fresh off Justine’s Brasserie, is taking over the Congress location. Jason Stude, previously the spot’s chef de cuisine, is helming the hotly anticipated Boiler Nine Bar + Grill, opening soon.
The new Second Bar and hotel are hosting a job fair for front and back of house positions on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 28 and 29.
2016 is a busy, busy time for La Corsha. Second Bar’s original location on Congress is expanding into the now-defunct fine dining Congress space, to be finished over the summer. There’s a third Second Bar slated for the Austin-Bergstrom Airport’s international terminal. Green Pastures, which the group took over last summer, is temporarily closed for renovations until the fall. Then there is the East Austin Hotel on East 6th Street, the site of Wonderland and East Side Fillin’ station (the bar will be resurrected within the new building).
