— The Fairmont Austin, set to open in 2017, will have five restaurants, including steak, Italian, and Asian, a nightclub, and lobby bar, as reported by Austin Business Journal.

— Freedmen's is looking for more barbecue cooks.

Garden & Gun recommends stops at the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo and Luckenbach for summer road trips.

— Tito Beveridge, the man behind Tito's Handmade Vodka, wrote a play called This is Side of the Dirt. It is currently being performed at the Dougherty Arts Center this month.

— Austin topped Mental Floss' list of the country's best cities for barbecue, offering Franklin Barbecue and Freedmen's as examples.

— The Capital Area Food Bank of Texas will now be known as the Central Texas Food Bank. The organization is also moving into a new building in East Austin on Metropolis Drive. The previous facility is being taken over by Thirsty Planet Brewing Company.
