Cane Rosso, the Dallas pizzeria empire expanding to Sunset Valley, is planning on creating an Austin barbecue pizza when it opens. It plans on teaming up with a local barbecue spot to create the pie, which hasn’t been worked out yet. Perhaps Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ, which happens to be located nearby, should be considered.
The Austin location is also the pizzeria’s first to feature two pizza ovens, which means twice as much Neapolitan pies for everyone. The kilns were so huge, everything had to be built inside of the building.
A rep also told Eater that Cow Tipping Creamery, the stacked ice cream sensation, might open sooner rather than later within Cane. It will be the food truck’s second brick and mortar spot, after the one in Dallas, which opened earlier this year. There are talks of epic dessert pizza collaborations.
Cane Rosso announced it was taking over the old St. Philip space, which shuttered last fall. That restaurant was run by the former Uchi Group, now known as Hai Hospitality. The pizzeria is on track for a mid-summer opening at this point.
