Food truck OneTaco is expanding with a new brick and mortar. It takes over the shuttered Mighty Bird location in Highland Oaks. Co-owner Tony Avila always wanted to open a physical restaurant since he started the food trailers in 2009.
Update, June 14: OneTaco's brick and mortar opening will happen on Friday, June 17.
The menu already includes plenty of breakfast, lunch, and dinner tacos, like the meaty I Heart Bacon, the official Austin Marathon one filled with eggs, sausage, potatoes, and cheese, and the Gowalla, with guacamole, bacon, steak, and queso fresco (it somehow forms a strange acronym). The new space means the offerings will expand. Look out for more appetizers, more traditional tacos, and beer.
The trucks, found on at Little Woodrow's on West 6th Street and the Midway Food Park on South Capital of Texas Highway, will still operate when the restaurant opens. Avila and co-owner Axel Beverido are eyeing a June opening date, and aren't ruling out any further expansions.
Austin’s other taco trailer Veracruz All Natural just opened up its first brick and mortar last month in Round Rock.
