— Voodoo Doughnut's mixing things up with soft serve on the weekends, with options inspired by the Portland-based shop's wacky pastry creations.

— A man tried to buy $2,000 worth of Chick-fil-a gift cards using stolen credit cards at the location on West Martin Luther King Boulevard. After the police arrived, he attempted to stash the purchased cards in the bathroom.

— Flyrite Chicken is introducing breakfast with chicken and waffles very soon.

— Taking over the defunct Ross Transmission next to Liberty Bar on East 6th Street will be the Indie Apartments (real name) boasting of small studios and apartments. A not-tiny restaurant is also in the works.

— The Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau recommended local barbecue places, starting with Uncle Billy's Smokehouse and Brewery, Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que, then the usual suspects.

— Whataburger made prom dreams come true by throwing teen Fernando Lopez, the winner of the chain’s best prom-posal stunt, and his friends a burger-filled pre-party dinner in Roma, Texas, complete with limo and orange corsages.

Business Insider and Restaurant Business ranked the country's fast food chains, with Whataburger at #12.
