After some recent-ish chef shuffles at Italian restaurant Al Fico, it seems the restaurant is throwing in the towel as well. The East Side eatery states on its website that an "inability to renegotiate the lease" led to the shuttering of the restaurant and a confirmation that "this will be permanent."

Al Fico Closes Its Doors In East Austin May 10, 2016 12:30 p.m. AUSTIN –

Osteria Al Fico announced today that after the inability to renegotiate its lease agreement, the authentic Italian restaurant has officially closed its doors. Owners Jeff Courington and Kelly Bell have confirmed that this will be permanent.

Courington and Bell express their sincere apologies for the immediate affect it will have on the more regular customers as well as the East Austin community.

"Due to the inability to renegotiate the lease, Al Fico was unfortunately forced to close its doors," said Courington.

Al Fico would like to personally thank each and every customer, investor, and team member for the hard work and dedication that lead to a well-built and comfortable place to enjoy authentic Italian food and wine.

Phone lines are busy at Al Fico, so there are no additional statements on what may happen to the staff or future of the owners at this time.
