Lick Ice Creams’ vacant South Lamar spot already has a new tenant lined up: Tiny Pies. The Burnet Road bakery is expanding into South Austin with its second location. Co-owners (and daughter and mother team) Amanda Bates and Kit Seay plan on opening later this month.
Update, April 12: Tiny Pies on South Lamar will open on Tuesday, April 26. The larger space allows the pie shop to grow the menu with new items.
Tiny Pies concentrates on very small sweet and savory pies, of course, alongside fruit tarts, Mason Jar pies, pie pops, empanadas, and more. Bates and Seay opened the first store in Brentwood in March 2014.
Lick announced the ice cream shop was leaving its original location last month for a new spot just blocks away at Lamar Union. There are a total of three Licks in Texas, with a fourth one slated for Mueller.
Tiny Pies’ new neighbors include Henri’s Cheese & Wine Shop, which caught on fire this week and is temporarily closed until further notice. Bryce Gilmore’s original Barley Swine space (which moved up to Burnet earlir this year) is being used as a private event space for now.
